I figured it was a terrible idea to get my first tattoo at a roller skating party, so I opted for the temporary tattoo by Tattly. Plus, I got my gold skates to always remember the night by.

Our unseasonably warm, 60 degree weather is back just in time for the first weekend of ice skating at the McCarren Park Pool located on the Greenpoint-Williamsburg border. If you don’t have skates, don’t worry. You can rent them for $5. The rink is open 11am-10pm every day of the week through January. All of the profits are going towards improving northern Brooklyn parks, which seems good enough a reason for me to go embarrass myself on the ice at least once this season. {info & photo found here}

Have you ever eaten at Frankies Spuntino? If not, it is a must stop on the Brooklyn foodie train and one of our favorites. We went there for Juliet's birthday this year and it was the lovely little spot we chose for our City Hall wedding celebration. From the food to the staff to the decor it is charming from top to bottom. Needless to say when we get an inquiry for a Frankies wedding we're always excited. Every wedding they host is always intimate, casual and down right charming. Saturday's wedding was nothing less and one of our favorites. I snapped a few photos from my IPhone before we headed out and we'll be sure to share any professional photos that come our way.

When Juliet and I launched P&P almost 6 years ago we quickly realized how little we knew and how much there was to learn. Although we've gained unimaginable amounts of knowledge about designing and executing events over those years, we still recognize today that there is always more to learn. The journey never ends and it's something we've learned to embrace and appreciate. Discovering new techniques, learning about new flowers, and growing as a business is what keeps each day fresh and exciting.

For a long time we've dreamt about putting together a floral workshop series; a place that we could invite floral enthusiasts of all levels to learn and play with beautiful blooms. With the past few years being as busy as they've been it's always been put on the back burner, but never forgotten. We're finally excited to announce our floral workshop series with one on one and group lessons available in both New York City & Los Angeles. I love vintage educational posters, you know the pull down charts from when there was no “online” and everything needed for a report was in an encyclopedia.  That's why I was so excited when Windsor Terrace Antiques opened up a few months ago.

Filled with old globes, colored glass bottles, typewrites, and SO MANY old classroom charts, Windsor Terrace Antiques is a great inspiration for a day trip to an “undiscovered” neighborhood (full disclosure, I live there).   While your in the hood, walk through Prospect Park, get a beer and a snack at Double Windsor, and maybe a meat pie from DUB pies.  Great colors (original and imaginative images), well priced (most under $100) and you don't even need to worry about framing (at least for the moment).

We are so excited about the new ‘Wild Medicine’ exhibition going on at the NYBG. The show opens on the 18th of this month and runs through September. With information on how plants are used by a a diverse group of cultures for everything from medicine to cosmetics, it is sure to be a super fascinating exhibit.  I for one can’t wait.  Click here for more information about ‘Wild Medicine’ and all of the cool events happening at the NYBG.

I remember being a small child and hearing about Imelda Marcos (and her shoes) and thinking, “What’s so wrong with that?”  There’s something kooky and campy and slightly dark about about her whole persona, which is why I’m dying to see Here Lies Love at the the Public Theater.  Created by David Byrne with help by Fatboy Slim it’s less of a traditional musical and more of an event. The show has just been extended through May 19th.

 We’ve heard all the hooplah about Briskettown on the South side of Williamsburg, but never worked up the nerve to battle the crowd of people who try to make their way through this small spot each night. They tend to sell out of meat so often they even have a  URL called IsThereMeatLeft.com, just so you can check in before you head over. They’ve also started offering pre-ordering for those who are very serious about getting their meat fix and not waiting for it.

 On Saturday afternoon we found ourselves with hungry family members and headed over to Briskettown at 6pm to get there before the rush. Little did we know that their 6:30pm opening time meant that their devoted following had already started to form a line by 6:15 and the butcher was slicing away.

Dan, the owner, set out with a goal of brining super-focused, brilliantly executed Central Texas style ‘cue to New York City. In order to accomplish this he made a trek down to Austin, Texas to procure his massive 18′ smoker and a ton of post oak wood to haul back home. Each night they offer 2-3 smoked proteins, seasonally driven sides, and delicious bake goods.  Don’t worry they didn’t forget the fluffy, white bread or the pickles. Pick up a 6-pack (it’s BYOB) and head over to Briskettown, it’s well worth the wait!
