A few of my favorite things…

We’re beyond excited to sit down with Melissa (Missy) Murphy of Missy Photography and Maefield & Co. Missy is one of those unique, talented ladies that can wear many hats and wear them all well. We’re pretty much fully obsessed at this point with her newest venture, Maefield & Co. It’s a lovely new website of curated heirloom pieces for little ones. Fun fact, most of the pieces listed so far are handmade by Missy herself. I’ll be putting in my request soon enough for a whale to give to my niece or nephew that’s on it’s way. Without further ado, Missy’s favorite things….

When my lovely friends asked for three of my favorite things I must say I was stumped.  The first shot to mind immediately but the other two took some mulling over.  As of the past year I have had the amazing experience and extreme joy of becoming a mom.  Even though the wee one is almost ten months now it is still bizarre to hear the word “mom” referring to myself.  She, my long-time loving Hubby and my supportive family/friends are my obvious first favorite.  However due to the ‘new mom’ life, utter lack of sleep and free time, the other two favorites were hard to mentally call forth.  I will give it my best though…

Becoming Lottie’s mom was the most life changing guttural experience imaginable.  She turned my emotions inside out and has taught me (and continues to) what I am truly capable of.  On top of it all, watching my Hubby care and dance in circles for her makes my heart swell.

My second favorite thing would be more of a category…all of my inherited goodies!  I feel so honored to have my great great grandma’s quilts, husband’s great uncle’s paintings, great grandma’s silverware, two of my other grandma’s paintings, my mom and her mom’s baby clothes, great grandparent’s wedding rings, etc.  These things resonate with me and I treasure them deeply and find them inspiring to boot.

My third favorite is a personal weakness for vintage and antique jewelry.  I just can’t help it.  They lure me in! On top of that you then need pretty little antique bowls to keep them in…hmmm….and there would be a fourth favorite thing :).
