installation artAs I’ve gotten older and older my interest in art has grown, but nothing seems to grab my attention and suck me in quite like installation art. Its typical grand scale and impactful displays makes me stop and think more than most other art. I find myself always thinking about how the artist was able to either create the piece in the first place or more importantly how they were able to install it.

We met Christina Watka last year when she came to work on the P&P team and after about 5 minutes of having her in the studio we all agreed she was home. Although she has a natural talent for designing flowers and styling events, Christina’s true passion lies in installation art. It’s for good reason because she is amazingly talented and capable of thinking on a larger scale than I certainly ever have. Her installation shown above consists of thousands of impressions of  her thumb, on tiny pieces of clay that were dried, painted in various shades of colors and hung in the most beautiful way. I urge you to watch her short documentary of her process making this installation here! Learn more about her and her work here.
