Summer is full of little trips here and there, both weekend and longer, that necessitate a bag that’s not too big and closes completely (sorry faithful tote, 86 duffle). I did a little internetting, and found the perfect solution. The Kanken from Fjallraven is the official schoolbag of Swedish schoolchildren and the favorite backpack of Japanese everywhere. I found mine on J.Crew (which incidentally had the best price), and have been using it everyday since I received it a week ago. I choose the bright lemon pictured above, but I think all the colors are lovely. The best part are the extra handles on top making it super easy to carry like a tote on those days when it’s too hot to have against your back.
