Three days home…

I haven’t left the house since Sunday in fear of Sandy who rolled up on our shores and created havoc around the city and in many neighboring states in the past couple of days. Although today things are much calmer (at least on our st), it only seemed right to take one more low key day and give the city time to start to pick up the pieces. It’s going to take a long time in many areas and there just seemed like no reason to run out the door. Luckily all of my family and friends in the city we’re very fortunate for the most part. The worse was power outages for some of our family and collapsed trees. My fiancé and I live in Greenpoint and we we’re a part of this little odd bubble that got strong winds, but hardly any rain and thankfully no damage. Never the less our hearts go out to the families who have experienced major loss during this storm. It is truly a humbling moment when you know that towns, homes, and families are being ripped up all around you and there is nothing that woman or man can do. Mother nature is a very powerful force that does not stop for anyone. We must treat her well and always remember to keep things in perspective because life is too short. Whether it is a daily annoyance or a wedding you’re planning for, always take the time to stop in those stressful moments and remember that it’s not that serious.

We’re donating to Red Cross and if you’re able to we urge you to do the same. To donate, visit www.redcross.org, call 800-Red-Cross or text the word “Redcross” to 90999 to make a $10 donation. I know a lot of blood drives we’re cancelled because of the storm, so if you have the time try to donate to help shortages!
