A few of my favorite things…

meme

This week we are so lucky to have my dear old friend, Cordelia Reynolds, sharing a few of her favorite things with us. Cordelia and I were roomies throughout most of college and I must say our apartment was pretty chic for a couple of 18 year olds with a penchant for Goodwill.  Her innate eye for fabulous things has led Cordelia to her career staging houses in the Highland Park area of Los Angeles.  Along with her business partner Sarah Brady, who owns a home decor/art gallery on York Blvd in Highland Park called Platform, Cordelia transforms boring real estate into something truly magical. She and Sarah, who call themselves home stylists, are trying to do something different in home staging than what’s typically out there by bringing in as much locally hand-crafted furniture and local art as possible. They also utilize lots of  mid century and eclectic vintage finds to make their rooms feel really special. Their new adventure is taking them into the world of full blown interior design & I, for one, can’t wait to see what they create! Take it away Cord!

I am always on the hunt for special pieces to feature in homes- so it is no surprise that all of my favorite things are things I use in staging!

Moroccan Rugs
My business partner Sarah and I are rug obsessed. A rug is the anchor of a room and the right rug can really elevate a space and take the room to the next level.  We love rugs that have a history and are one of kind. Moroccan rugs are so incredibly soft and cozy and this red one makes a great statement.

Acapulco Chair
I love this chair! It has a modern, mid century appeal but is also super comfortable and comes in loads of fun colors. It works great inside and out. Legend has it that a French tourist was visiting Acapulco in the 50’s and was uncomfortably hot atop a solidly-constructed chair in the Mexico sunshine. Inspired by the open string construction of traditional Mayan hammocks nearby, he designed a chair fit for the modern tropics. And we are so happy he did.

African Handwoven Hamper
These hand-woven African basket hampers are so popular and for good reason, they are very pretty to look at and super functional. They make the best hampers and are such a cool filler for a bedroom or laundry room. We use them a ton in staging. They are hand crafted by a network of more than 100 rural Wolof women, providing critical fair trade income for women who face difficulty finding individuals to purchase their baskets locally. www.connectedgoods.com is a great website that only sells Fair Trade products.
